First post on Edublog
May 27, 2008
Hi all,
This is my first post on edublogs for my social networking class at GMU. This blog is intended to document my learning throughout this summer course and will give an update on my design idea for my project in this class.
My project is centered around emerging web technologies and will focus on the development of Adobe’s Integrated Runtime (AIR), Flash, Flex and Actionscript. I think the Internet as we know it is on a threshold and will soon be entering a new generation of web applications that serve the same (if not better) purpose as traditional websites.
I titled this blog “Waiting on Web 3.0″ because I’m exhausted with 2.0 – its time for a change. If I see one more social network pop up, I might explode. If people are joining a social network for stay at home mom’s who bake, I think its about time we move onto to something new. With the increase in success with Rich Internet Applications, I think you will start to see a new (and more efficient) way to use the Internet. I think that many of the big companies and organizations out there would agree. Already, you have Adobe’s AIR platform, Microsoft is pushing their Silverlight technologies and even Firefox has a project called Prism. It will be interesting to see which direction these companies take rich Internet Applications and I can’t wait to see what happens.

What do you have against stay at home mom’s who bake? It sounds bit harsh, like the lowest in the chain at using social sites.

I have absolutely nothing against mom’s that bake! My point was that there is a social network for everything, its gotten to the point where I think that there are just too many social networks, I’m overwhelmed by them, each day you’ll find a new one.
I’d much rather see something unique then another social network.
